Radish(Daikon) Sambar or mullangi sambar is cooked using toor or moong dal(lentil) along with radish,tamarind juice and sambar powder.It is a unique recipe and very flavorful.It goes well with rice or Quinoa.

Ingredients
1/4 cup toor (yellow split peas) dal(lentil)
1 cup chopped radish(daikon)
few curry leaves(optional)
1 tbsp Sambar powder
1/4 cup Tamarind juice(Soak a small portion of tamarind in hot water and extract the pulp and set aside)
1/2 tsp sugar(optional)
pinch of turmeric
salt to taste
1/2 cup water
For seasoning:
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Black mustard seeds
1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
1 Red chilli
pinch of asafetida( Hing)
1/2 tsp oil
Procedure:
1)In a pressure cooker wash toor dal(or Moong Dal) ,add water and radish allow it to cook for 3 whistles or until soft. Remove from the stove and set aside.
2)Heat a pan with oil and add the seasoning ingredients and allow them to splutter.
3)Now add the cooked lentil(dal),tamarind pulp, turmeric, salt, sambar powder, curry leaves mix well and bring it to a boil. And cook on low flame for few second.
4)Serve hot with rice or Quinoa.
