Broccoli potato patties(tikki) is a wonderful tea time healthy snack, easy to make and nutritious.It is prepared by combining broccoli and boiled potato or sweet potato along with some chaat masala for a tangy taste.
Makes 6-7 Patties
1 cup Broccoli florets (shredded)
2 small boiled & mashed potatoes
2tbsp corn starch(to remove any excess moisture from the mixture)
1tbsp ginger and green chili paste
1tsp Chaat masala
1/2tsp Red chili powder(optional)
salt to taste
1/2 onion diced
1tsp ground flax seeds
pinch of turmeric
1)Heat a pan on a medium flame with a teaspoon of oil and add broccoli,onions,ginger chili paste,turmeric,ground flax seeds powder, salt and sauté until the moisture is evaporated.
2)Transfer it into a bowl and add potatoes, chaat masala ,chili powder, add corn starch (if required).Mix thoroughly and make 6-7 equal portions, make a flat round patties(tikki).
3)Heat a griddle add few drops of oil and place the patties(tikki). and cook until they turn golden on both sides.
4)Serve hot with ketchup or a Greek yogurt chutney.
1)Easy way to shred broccoli florets is to add them to the food processor and give couple of pulses.
2)If you don’t eat spicy eliminate green chili and red chili powder.
3)Chaat masala is an Indian spice powder easily available in Indian Grocery stores. If unavailable you can add roasted ground cumin and coriander powder along with some lemon juice for some tangy flavor.
3)If you want to make it healthy replace potato with sweet potato.
4)You can use them as veggie burger patties.
