Cabbage vada are made using urad dal(lentil) along with shredded cabbage, green chilies, cilantro and ginger. They make an amazing crispy tea time snack.
1 Cup Urad Dal (wash and soak lentil for 2-3 hrs and grind into a smooth batter by adding 3 to 4 tbsp. of water, transfer the batter into a bowl and set aside.)
1/2 cup shredded Cabbage
3 green chilies finely chopped
1 bunch of cilantro finely chopped
1 tbsp. of grated ginger
Oil for frying
salt to taste
1)To the batter add chopped cabbage, cilantro, green chilies, ginger and salt.Mix well and keep aside.
2)Heat oil in a frying pan on medium flame. Once the oil is hot enough then drop a spoonful of batter and fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
3)Drain the vadas onto the paper towel to remove any excess oil.
4)You can enjoy them with Coconut Chutney or ginger chutney or eat as is.
