Cabbage Mustard Curry

It is a popular south Indian curry served as a side dish for rice or roti.Steamed cabbage cooked in mustard seed paste and tamarind paste. A unique and a delicious flavor.

Prep Time:10 mins
Cook time:20 mins

1 medium size green cabbage(finely chop,steam and set aside)
few curry leaves
4 green chilies finely chopped
Salt to taste
1 tsp mustard seeds(Add few drop of water and make it into a fine paste)
1 tbsp tamarind paste
Pinch of turmeric

For Seasoning:
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1/2 tsp chana dal
1 dry red chili
pinch of asafetida

-Heat a saucepan with oil on a medium heat and add all the seasoning ingredients allow the mustard seeds to splutter and turn golden brown.

-Add curry leaves ,green chilies ,steamed cabbage, turmeric, salt, tamarind paste mix well. cook it uncovered for couple of minutes.

-Now add the mustard seed paste mix well .cook for few minutes and switch off the stove.
-Serve hot with rice or roti.

-Don’t add more mustard seeds it will make the curry bitter.
