Mung dal lentil crepe(Pesarattu)

Pesarattu (Mung dal lentil crepe) is healthy protein rich breakfast recipe prepared by soaking whole mung along with some rice for couple of hours and blend it into a smooth paste.This lentil crepe can be had as is or served along with Upma and ginger chutney.

Prep time:15 mins + 2 hours soak time
Cook time:5-8 mins
Makes 6

Ingredients for batter:
1 cup whole moong or split moong dal
4-5 tbsp rice
small piece of ginger
3-4 dry red chilies
1tbsp cumin seeds
salt to taste

For garnish:

-1 medium onion Finely chopped

-Wash and soak mung dal+rice in a large bowl for 2hrs and then blend it to smooth paste along with ginger,red chili,cumin seeds and salt.Set aside.
-Preheat a griddle on medium high heat and laddle couple of spoons of batter and spread it evenly into a circle and add chooped onion,few drops of oil.
-Allow it to turn golden brown and turn the other side and cook for couple of mins.
-continue the same process for rest of the batter and serve hot with upma or ginger chutney.


-Adding rice to the make the crepe cripy.
-Reduce the amount of dry red chilies if you don’t like it spicy.
