Split yellow moong dal lentil crepe is healthy protein rich breakfast recipe prepared by soaking dal along with some rice for couple of hours and blend it into a smooth paste. This lentil crepe can be had as is or serve it hot with coconut chutney and ginger chutney.
Prep time:15 mins + 2 hours soak time
Cook time:5-8 mins
Ingredients for batter:
1 cup split yellow moong dal
4-5 tbsp rice
small piece of ginger
3-4 dry red chilies
1 tbsp cumin seeds
ping of hing
salt to taste
water as needed
-1 medium onion finely chopped
-1/4 cup shredded carrot or beet root
-finely chopped cilantro
1)Wash and soak dal+rice in a large bowl for 2 hrs and then blend it to smooth paste along with ginger,red chili,cumin seeds ,hing and salt. Adjust the consistency of the batter not to thick or not too thin by adding some water. Set aside.
2)Preheat a griddle on medium high heat and ladle couple of spoons of batter and spread it evenly into a circle and add chopped onion+shredded carrot,+cilantro few drops of oil.
3)Allow it to turn golden brown and turn the other side and cook for couple of mins.
4)Continue the same process for rest of the batter and serve hot with ginger chutney.
-Adding rice to the make the crepe crispy.
-Reduce the amount of dry red chilies if you don’t like it spicy.
