Namak pare(Whole wheat cracker) is crunchy and savory tea time cracker prepared using whole wheat flour seasoned with ajwain seeds and baked or fried until crispy.

Makes:2-3 cups
Ingredients:
1 cup Whole wheat flour or All purpose flour
1 tsp Semolina (optional)
1 tsp Clarified butter(ghee)
1 tsp Ajwain seeds
pinch of salt
water to knead
oil to deep fry
Procedure:
1)In a large mixing bowl add flour,semolina,clarified butter,salt mix well and slowing add water to knead to form a firm dough.
2)Divide the dough into 4-5 equal parts and roll into a 6 inch disc.Using a knife cut the disc into vertical and horizontal lines making a square or triangle shape.
3)Heat the oil in a pan and when the oil is hot enough,then add the crackers into the oil fry until they turn golden brown.Transfer them onto a paper towel to remove any excess oil and set aside.
OR
4)Bake them by placing them individually on a baking tray and brush them with oil and bake at 180(C) for 15-20 mins until golden and crispy.

You can store in an air tight container for up to 15-20 days.
