Lentil fritters

Easy and tasty snack to feed guests. It can be prepared using urad lentil flour, bread and sooji.Seasoned with grated carrot,onions and deep fried until golden brown and crispy. These fitters are crispy outside and softer inside. Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.

Prep time:5-8mins
Cook time:15-20mins
Makes 12-14

Ingredients for batter:
1/4 cup Urad flour
2 brown or white bread fine powder
2-3 tbsp. Semolina
1/4 cup plain yogurt
few drops of water as needed
salt to taste
pinch of baking soda

Oil for Frying

For seasoning:
2 green chilies finely chopped
2 tbsp. cilantro
1 carrot finely grated(optional)
1 small onion finely chopped
1/2tsp cumin seeds

-In a large mixing bowl add all the ingredients and seasoning mix well to form a thick batter.
-Add few drops of water if the batter is too thick. Allow the batter to rest for 5-10mins.
-Heat a large skillet with oil and once oil is hot enough. Drop a spoonful of batter into oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
-Remove the fritters onto a paper towel.
-Follow the same process for rest of the batter and serve hot with some coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
