Chole Batura

Chole Batura a popular North Indian dish.Batura is a fried flat bread  and served with chole (chickpea curry).Garnish with chopped ginger,green chilies and onions.
Perfect for a Breakfast or Dinner.

Prep time:10mins
cook time:15mins
Dough rest time:30mins -2hrs

Ingredients for Batura:
2 and 1/2 cups All purpose flour
pinch of salt
pinch of sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1-2 tbsp semonlina
1/2 cup plain yogurt
water as needed

Oil for frying


-In  a large mixing bowl add all the ingredients and add water as needed.Mix well to form a thick dough.
-add few drops of oil to the dough and allow it to rest for couple of hours.
-Divide the dough to 6-8 equal parts and roll out into a even circle shape.
-Heat oil in a frying pan and once the oil is hot enough drop the baturas fry until it puffs up, slightly golden and fried evenly on both sides.
-Serve hot with chickepea curry(chole).garnish with chopped onions,lime juice..etc..,

-Make sure the dough is thick.Don’t add too much water.
