Bread halwa

Bread halwa is prepared using bread shallow fried in ghee and seasoned with cardamon and garnished with almond,cashews.Easy and delicious dessert.

6 whole wheat bread slices(Trim edges,cut each slice into 4 pieces and set aside)
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
2 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp almonds and cashew roughly chopped
1/3 cup powdered jaggery or coconut palm sugar
6 tbsp water
3 tbsp warm milk

-Heat a pan with ghee and shallow fry bread pieces until golden brown and set aside.
-Fry almonds and cashews in ghee and set aside for garnish.
-In the same pan add jaggery,water,cardamom powder.Cook until jaggery is dissolved.Simmer for 5 mins
-Add the fried bread slices,warm milk and mix well until the syrup is absorbed by all bread slices.
-Transfer contents into bowl and garnish with almonds,cashews.Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or eat as is.
